Sue Pelly (sister-in-law): John Shaw, Sir Robert and Lady Shaw's younger son, was educated at the Prince of Wales in Kenya .He served five years in the British Army before coming back to the farm Bondoni. Being a Wakamba speaker he worked at a detention camp towards the end of the Mau Mau uprising, helping to rehabilitate that tribe. He had three children - Charles, Jane and Ann. He was a Major in the Kenya Regiment. He was a good polo player being a 3 and captain of Machakos polo club. Like his parents he was wonderfully generous and always ready to help anyone. He was a favourite with the local Wakamba. There was a great Ngoma on the farm the night he and my sister were married.
