General Information:

David Slingsby - Charles Richard Slingsby and his wife Violet Alice moved to Eldoret in early 1919 - My father John was born in Eldoret on 5 November 1919 and a sister Betty Jane on 9 December 1920. I'm not sure of the exact date he returned to Cape Town - but an archive in Cape Town he appeared in court on 29 August 1924 as he was summoned by Standard Bank over a promissory note.  It appears that he was in partnership (briefly) with Mundell in what I think was a beef cattle auction business. He returned to SA in I think about 1923-4 leaving a debt owed to Mundell.
Childhood - Joan Reid (née Lumley) - Eldoret - Lord Kitchener's son, Lord Broome, often stayed with the next door neighbour, Mr Slingsby, whose wife, Violet was a very pretty lady.
