Eldoret - relinquished the ownership of Farm 64 as he considered the land unsuitable for farming. The Post Office, built of random rubble by him on the site facing the present public gardens near the Motor Mart, was opened at the end of 1910. When this building was completed the history of Eldoret begins. ....... Mr van Aardt also built a round stone-and-thatched house (opposite the New Lincoln Hotel) which became a clerk's house, an office and store, at a cost of £167.
