From 1 June 1918 he was vet. pathologist at Kabete Lab., Kenya, until 1922 when he was appt. Chief Vet. Research Officer. 1932 Acting Dep. Director (Animal Industry) in Kenya and was made OBE. Returned to S. Africa 1933 and was employed on research work on foot and mouth disease in Bechuanaland. Later he est. a practice in Johannesburg which he cont. until his death.
