Eldoret - Alfie Cripps and his brother came about 1904. Their first means of transport was hide pulled by two oxen before they had a cart. Elsewhere are invoices of Alfies giving some idea of the purchases made then and the cost; also a cheque of 1909. Their farms were between Soy and Turbo. They were very self-sufficient and from diaries and records available it is evident Alfie was both a poet and an artist.
