Kahuguny Coffee Plantation at Ruiru with uncle Walter Kirton who, retired from his army and war correspondent careers, homesteaded there and had a coffee plantation. 1922 - 1928. From Directories published in East Africa. Farmed with Uncle Walter on his coffee plantation. His expertise with army trucks and other vehicles prepared him well for caring for the farm machinery.
1929 emigrated to Canada. Hamilton, Ontario - Worked for T.W.Clark at Crown Garage, 132 Main Street East, located next to the Bus Terminal. He became a partner in 1934 and sole proprietor by 1935. continuing until 1941. Garage was broken into and all tools stolen. Decided to close. Worked at Otis Fensom Ammunitions; taught motor mech. Oshawa for three years; taught motor mech. at Central Tech until 1945, then at night school. Worked at Wentworth Motors as mechanic & then Service Salesman.
