Dhows - Vol 2 - Tom Fraser - when he moved there in 1936 one of the nearby farmers was Jim Bodeker, a bachelor at the time. He had an old car and he used to drive his fellow farmers into Nairobi; they'd go drinking in the Long Bar but he didn’t drink and so was sober to drive them home again. ………… When Tom went back to his farm in Makuyu after the war, Jim had left and he never had any more contact with the family; he didn't even know Jim had married. He had, and his widow the late Doreen, told me she'd no idea her father-in-law might have been half Parsee.
