David Scotchmer (son) My father went to Kenya in early 1927 with the intention of being a missionary for the Apostolic Faith Church but the church was unable to fund him so he took the job of salesman with G North & Son, a company selling agricultural equipment. Soon after the beginning of the second world war Bill Mitchel the Director was called into the Kenya Airforce as he had flying experience and my father was made General Manager, the position he held until he retired in 1953. He remained in Kenya until he died in 1987. Amongst other voluntary work during his retirement he helped to build additional classrooms at a CMS school in Bucoba and also carried out maintenance work at Gertrude’s Garden Children's Hospital in Nairobi.
