General Information:
Pembroke - Richard Wilson's recollections - ' …. Although two and half years younger than me he weighed about the same and was already showing signs of the awesome physique that later in life enabled him to set a shot-putt record at Dartmouth, and become the only person, (I believe) ever to hit a six out of the Nairobi Club ground full pitch into the swimming pool……' 'Denis also went on to Dartmouth where he was the first person since our father to be in the Cricket Eleven for three years.
He made the second rugger XV and the hockey XI as well as establishing the shot-putt record….. He then spent three years at sea during the war, got married shortly afterwards and left the Navy to come back to Kenya, farming at Ulu. He served on the Machakos District Agricultural Committee, played cricket for Machakos and The Settlers, and from 1963 transformed Kilifi Plantations from a slightly scruffy sisal plantation into its present form of a unique milk, beef and cattle producing estate.
