Kiambu Scrapbook - Other pioneers in Upper Kiambu - Yara, a little higher up, was originally started as a cattle farm by a Norwegian, Mr Gulonsen [sic], but was bought and put under coffee, also in 1911, by a Norwegian Company, Azania Ltd., founded by Mr H.P. Krag. Their Manager was Mr Eriksen who ran this farm from that date until after the second World War.

In 1921, Azania Limited also bought Njuno and Kizembe, a farm above Yara, but as it was losing money over these ventures, in 1928 it transferred all its property to Mr Krag's son Peter, who kept it till his death in May 1960 but never himself lived in this country. His family in Sweden still own all these farms.
