Indian Medical Gazette June 1916 and Apr 1917 He was a 3rd class Asst. Surgeon, Bengal Sub-Medical Dept.. 5 members of the dept. were killed - W.I. Maine MC, A.R. Emmett, A.C. Marchant, G.C. West and P.C. de Cruz, all in E. Africa. [Marchant may have died rather than be killed at Latema-Reata.]. He had attained warrant rank on 4 Mar 1907, and was promoted to 3rd class on 4 Mar 1912. Prior to the war he was serving at Magadi in British East Africa.
