Sylvia Brownrigg (granddaughter): Gawen Brownrigg was born in 1911 in "Tokio" where his father, Sir Douglas Egremont Brownrigg, was the naval attache. The family moved back to England in 1913. Brownrigg was educated at Wellington College school and then Magdalen College, Oxford though did not complete his degree. He was the author of two novels, "Star Against Star" (Obelisk Press, 1936) and "Later Than You Think" (Knopf, 1938). He died August 8, 1938 in Nairobi, where he was working at the East Africa Standard. He was survived by his ex-wife, Lucia von Borosini, and his son Nicholas (born 1932).
