Curtis - p. 50 - REAAA - Secretary's Annual Report 1922 - '........ In order to get people to signpost their private roads, I got two soldier settlers at Mbagathi - Mr Beer and Mr O'Halloran - to paint and letter those boards. The total cost is 4/-, and up to date between 700 and 800 have been supplied. (Beer and his partner O'Halloran had taken up a soldier settler farm of 800 acres, part of which is the present Bomas of Kenya. They grew coffee, which paid its way until WW2 interrupted the export market.)
