Campling - 1928 - "Mr Heuffl, Carberry's German engineer, was killed in a motor accident: he had been to the White Rhino in Nyeri for a few drinks and to say goodbye to his friends, then left the White Rhino by car and failed to take a corner, whereupon he went off the road and rolled down towards the Chania River. Jack Trench, who was in Nyeri at the time, investigated the accident, and found that a loose connection to the ammeter had caused the lights to fail, therefore probably causing the accident.
