General Information:
Childhood - Caroline Adams née Hartley - "I was born in the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital in November 1934. At the time my parents were living in Thomson's Falls, and my father had motored with my mother to Nakuru two weeks before I was due. ……….. My father bought a farm in 1936 but had to put it in the hands of a German manager as he was fully occupied running the Creamery. ………. My father was transferred to Morendat Creamery near Naivasha in 1943…….. In 1944 I went by train from Naivasha to Limuru to school ……. During my first holidays our beloved father died. He caught a chill after playing polo, which turned to pneumonia. Sadly there were no antibiotics then in Nakuru and M&B did not help. My grandmother wanted us all to return to England, but my mother decided to stay in Kenya, so she bought a house round the lake [Naivasha] which was our home until 1949.
