Pioneer Spirit - Gareth M-Barberton - In my early years I had a friend named Ken Bolton who lived on a nearby farm. We would meet often, particularly on the weekly visit to town. Friday was the farmers' day when they would forgather in the Kitale Hotel …… Ken and I went to the only secondary school in the Colony the Prince of Wales school in Nairobi. We were friends and rivals in everything. ……….. Years later when I was reading medicine at Oxford I learned that he had been senselessly killed when someone ran into the back of his car.
