General Information:
Son Robin Hillyar won the EA Safari Rally with Jock Aird in 1969. Source: Mrs Rosalind Hillyar - Angela Hillyar was an incredible person. She helped run the farm and started to teach her own children and other people asked her to teach theirs and gradually a school formed and hundreds of nursery age children lived there from remote farms or missionaries in Uganda, even babies when people went on leave! 1944-64. Unfortunately she suffered from multiple sclerosis and gradually became paralysed and was in a wheelchair but, helped by Liz and Angie, continued the school until just before her death. During the War she, like many other farmer's wives, spun wool from their own sheep on a spinning wheel provided by the Red Cross and made the children's clothes.
