Web - The Advertiser (Adelaide) 8 August 1916 - A cable message has been received from the War Office London intimating that Lieutenant L. Gordon Sandford, Royal Field Artillery, had been wounded. Lieutenant Sandford was in England when war broke out. About September 1914, he offered his services and was at first attached to King Edward's Horse. Later he obtained a commission as Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery and has been continuously at the front for the past 18 months, having been in many severe actions. Lieutenant Sandford is the second son of the late Mr A.W. Sandford who at one time represented the Southern District in the Legislative Council.
