Kitale cemetery - Edward Ferdinand St Maur - died 25 May 1969 Kitale (born 12 Oct 1894 Newton Abbot). This is Frederick Percy's bro.
His father Richard Harold St Maur (b. 6 June 1869) died 3 Apr 1927 at Kipipiri. The illegitimate son of Edward Adolphus Ferdinand Seymour, Earl St. Maur and Rosina Elizabeth Swan, a 19 year old half-gypsy maid. His father died when he was a few months old. In 1925 after the death of the 15th Duke, he petitioned the House of Lords to safeguard his claim to the dukedom whilst he sought the evidence that his parents were in fact married. When his grandfather died he was still presumed illegitimate and the Dukedom passed to a different line of the family. He resorted to placing adverts in the papers offering a reward of £50 for anyone who could prove they had witnessed his parents marriage. He lived at Stover Park, near Newton Abbot, which he inherited from his grandfather the 12th Duke of Somerset in 1885. He was educated at Wellington college and Sandhurst, before joining the 14th Hussars and later the 1st Division Royal Devon Yeomanry.
