I don't know how it came about, but Vic, Charles and I became good friends, but on parade I was just another soldier who obeyed orders. Sometimes I took Vic Bobbet with me on hunting safaris, which he thoroughly enjoyed, but if he infringed the rules of hunting, I would reprimand him. He acknowledged that I was the Bwana Mkubwa in these matters, just as I acknowledged his status on the parade ground. ....
