KFR - Charlie Van Dyk - My Great Grandfather Piet Van Dyk came to Tanganyika with the Von Landsberg trek in 1904 from South Africa after the Boer War. Not getting along with the Germans, my Great Grandfather left his farm (Renosterhoek) in Tanganyika and moved to Rumeruti in 1908 to farm.
My Grandfather worked in Nairobi for the Kenyan Railways. My dad farmed in Laikipia near Thomson's Falls up to 1972.
