Frampton - a tall Harrovian called Long Eames. He and his brother Short Eames had come after WW1 and bought several thousand acres in the Solai Valley. But they had flaming Irish tempers and used to have blood rows every time they met. The Africans constantly prevented murder being done by tearing them apart and carrying them off in opposite directions. Finally one of the brothers shot at the other. Although he missed his target it was decided that Long Eames should return to his dilapidated castle in Ireland. The land was split up and Chas Vranswick was installed, with Olive to look after him. Beyond Long Eames' farm was another owned by an absentee landlord Tom Banks.
