Kelly - served with Burmese Expedition 1886-9 and 1891-2, Chin Lushai Expedition 1890, operations against Mazrui rebels, E. Africa 1895-6, at capture of Nodiz Fort 1901, Major 1901, Brevet Lieut.-Col. 1902, ISC. DSO - Joined 1st Battn. The Leinster Regt. 25 Aug 1883, and the Indian Staff Corps 27 June 1885. He served in the Burmese War 1886-9 with the Mounted Infantry (Medal with clasp); with the Red Karen Expedition in 1889; served with the Mounted Infantry; was mentioned in Despatches 15 Nov 1889, and received a clasp, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order (London Gazette 12 Nov 1889) - in recognition of services during the late operations in Burma. ….
