General Information:

Gazette 6 Dec 1938 Voters' list Gladys Ivee
Letter from Victor Kane - A big man, Australian, a well known auctioneer. He had his auction mart/produce/livestock store on Sadler Street almost behind the Nairobi vegetable market. His eldest sons were twins (Rod and Jack from memory) and being of age when war broke out in 1939 they went to UK and joined the RAF but both were killed very early on. [Is this incorrect?] I am unable to recall the circumstances but I knew AB his family and at least 90% of Nairobi's population felt the loss and were sad for months. He had a daughter Jean, married Brown - sons - Ted, Bill and Jimmy and his cousin Ken farmed at Sultan Hamud. AB rode a bicycle during the petrol rationing of the war  from his home on the Ngong Road to work and back daily. As I have mentioned he was a big man and I can remember some of his lighter moments were watching a number of his youngsters feeling the tyres of his bicycle and being surprised that they remained hard when he put his weight on them.

Ancestry Family Tree says he m. Edith Frances 'Daisy' Hooker b. 14 Aug 1893 Southampton, d. 26 Feb 1984 Somerton Park, S. Australia. There were 3 sons born 1918, 1920 and 1922, but they appear to have the surname Jones and are indeed sons of Harry Richard Jones. The entry looks erroneous.
