EASC Vol 4 p 500 - There is a letter signed 'F.H. Hicks' at 'Kikuyu 1898' reading - 'Dear Miss Roscoe Here a few stamps. I'm afraid not much. I am awfully well and having quite a time, though rather rough at times. We have marched about 200 miles and have another 400 or so left, and I'm getting accustomed to it, and it is a most delightful life, but occasionally I feel a few days' rest and a real good meal would be worth a very good deal. I hope you people are all flourishing. I've had no letter since I started. The postmark on this letter is interesting. It is misspelt and will be changed in a very short time.'
