Moyse - Feb 1893 - J. Ross Todd - Acting Superintendent at Kismayu wounded in the head at a baraza so more troops sent under W.G. Hamilton, superintendent in charge of askaris. Hamilton was a stern martinet who had acquired a taste for German military methods. He had previously been at Taveta, where the Company had had cause to complain of his handling of the natives. ...…
11th Aug. - 'Viriboto' mutinied, captured Fort at Turki Hill, murdered Hamilton and disappeared into the bush.
North - Acting Supt. Taveta 12/6/1892; Ordered to withdraw from Taveta 25/10/1892; returning with caravan from Uganda 4/1/1893 four days march from Mombasa; in charge of Askaris at Kismayu; d. 11/8/1893, killed by Somalis at Turki Hill, 8 miles north of Kismayu on right bank of Juba
Kiewiet - 1893 - Kismayu - Trouble - Ross Todd, the Acting Superintendent reported that he and his assistant Farrant were "little better than prisoners in the Company's house". …….. Scuffle and Todd stabbed in the head and he called for punitive action. ….. Mr Hamilton was sent to Turki Hill, 8 miles up the river from Kismayu, to build a fort.

Intelligencer - Journal of Rev H.K. Binns - 1st November 1890 - "Sir Francis [Winton] wrote to me saying that one of their men, Hamilton, at Taveta, had gone mad, and as Dr Baxter was attending him asked if he might attend him to the coast, he sending up another European and caravan, and undertaking to send Dr Baxter back.
